North Korea raises arms spending

North Korea yesterday said it was increasing its military budget with a view to "putting all the people under arms and turning the whole country into a fortress".
Last month, a World Food Programme and Unicef survey said with funding running out, the food aid, which had kept a third of the population alive for last seven years, would be exhausted before the June harvest

O que espanta é que o mundo ocidental seja acusado de perpetuar a fome no mundo quando existem países à beira da catastrofe alimentar que preferem canalizar os seus recursos para armar exércitos. Enquanto isto recebem ajuda alimentar cujo destino, já aqui referi, é extremamente incerto...
